Inspiration Bike

As mentioned on the home page the inspiration bike was found randomly on the internet whilst I was browsing for cafe racers.  I had been looking for a while for a suitable bike to modify as a cafe racer and until I saw this bike I was intending on sticking with the normal Honda CB's and the like.

I do like to do things slightly different and this bike really struck a chord with me.  So much so I bought a XV750 to modify not more than a week after seeing the pictures below!

The bike below was made by a guy called Engelbert who resides in the Netherlands.  He took his inspiration from a highly respected bike builder from Japan,  Zero Engineering who often use large diameter tyres on the front of their bikes giving them that balanced look.

Engelbert's bike has been featured has had several magazine features and has also become very well known in the cafe racer and bike modification world.

At first glance you'd be forgiven for thinking the changes whilst very effective in changing the look of the bike are actually minimal. Having started the project I can say that there are many, many, many modificsations that have gone into this bike.

Have a look at the 'Project Scope' page for details on the work being undertaken on El >moto< loco.

Other influences

The bike below is made by Deus Ex Machina based in Sydney, Australia.  Deus are a specialised bike builder prominent in the cafe racer, street tracker and cutom bike scene.  Their craftsmanship is excellent and they certainly make some cool looking bikes.  The Street Tracker below made originally from a Kawasaki W650 is painted in Richard Petty red and blue mimicking the look of his NASCAR.  I intend for El >moto< loco to use a similar colour scheme to this one.

To see more of their bikes check their website out in the links page.
